7 Tips For Creating a Better WordPress Design
This is a guest post by Ness.
Creating a WordPress site for the first time can be a little confusing for most, but after you play around with all of the different customization options and upload some good images, you can make it perfect. So to give you a head start on some of the design aspects, we are going to give you 7 tips to use to ensure your design is amazing.
-
Use Beautiful Pictures
Images are a big part of WordPress, whether you have a blog or not. Using great pictures will help increase the overall value of your website and can be the reason your design is successful. Using a lot of random pictures that don't make sense or look bad can give your site a bad look and could potentially damage how people look at your overall site.
-
Proper Font Choices
Using the right fonts is also another major part of having a good design. A lot of the time new designers think it is fun and a good idea to use random fonts all over the website. Well, this isn't how other people look at it. Using random fonts to produce your content can actually push more people away than it will attract. People don't like new things and it can affect how well someone is able to read your content. The last thing you want is for a lot of people to be interested, but unable to read your font.
-
Have a Color Scheme
Using the right colors will always make your design much better. Using colors that don't match or make people's eyes hurt can really turn away new viewers. If you tend to use random colors, you should really make sure that they go well together. There are plenty of tools to help with color schemes that are free, so you should definitely check them out.
-
Incredible Logo
Logos have always been a big part of any successful website or business, so don't underestimate them. While I would recommend you have yours professionally made, I understand that not everyone will be able to do that. So make sure to take extra time and effort to make a good logo that will be able to be used for the foreseeable future. Remember, your website's brand has a lot to do with that logo, so if you keep changing it up every so often, you will be hurting your brand.
-
Don't Clutter the Pages
No one likes a cluttered page. It is hard to find where the content begins and where it ends. A lot of people decide to put to many advertisements, links, irrelevant sidebar stuff, and other things all on one page, making it way to cluttered. Instead, you should have everything in a neat fashion so people can easily find what it is they are looking for. If they want relevant content, they should have no problem finding the links on the page, instead of having to go through all of the random stuff. Same thing goes for the advertisements. You might want more money, but you will ultimately lose your viewers if your ads are getting in the way of you content.
-
Customize Your Layouts
Since there are thousands of themes out there for you to pick and choose from, you should make sure that the layout of your website is exactly how you want it to be. You should be able to ensure that your viewers have an easy experience navigating through your website and that the layout helps you accomplish your site's goals.
-
Have Easy Contact Forms
Making sure your visitors have an easy way to contact you will help your overall design by far. There are plenty of different plugins that you can use to simply insert a contact form and have that message sent directly to your e-mail. It is an easy way to ensure that no one has a hard time getting a hold of your website.
There are plenty of other tips that could increase the effectiveness of your WordPress design, but these 7 should really get you started in the right direction. Just make sure and take advantage of everything WordPress has to offer.
