Submit site/blog to Google, Yahoo and Bing search engines
If your blog has not yet been indexed by the three major search engines (Google, Yahoo and Bing), then it’s time to stop waiting and be proactive -submit your blog to them! Submission will increase your blog chances of being indexed the next time they crawl the web. Submission is free and is very easy to do.
Checking whether your blog is indexed
Before submitting your blog, you might want to do a “site search” to check its status (whether your blog is indeed has not been indexed yet). Enter this search query in the search box:
site:domain
Replace domain
with your domain name, for example for a blogspot blog enter site:yourblogname.blogspot.com
.
If the search produces no results, then go ahead with the submission. (If your blog has already been indexed, this search will return a list of all your indexed blog pages).
Use the same query for all three search engines.
Now let’s start submitting:
1. Submit blog to Google
- Go to Google site submission page.
- Fill in your blog homepage url and enter comments (optional).
- Enter the captcha, then click Add URL button.
2. Submit blog to Yahoo!
Update 2012: Yahoo Site Explorer has merged into Bing Webmaster Tools. Submitting your blog to Bing will cover both Bing and Yahoo.
- Go to Yahoo Site Explorer Website submission page.
- Sign in with a Yahoo ID.
- Click on Submit a Website or Webpage link.
- Enter your blog url (the homepage’s url) and click Submit URL button.
Note: You can also submit individual webpages (post pages) if you discovered certain pages are left out from Yahoo search index.
3. Submit blog to Bing
- Go to Bing URL submission page.
- Enter the captcha.
- Enter your blog homepage URL and click Submit URL button.
Now having submitted your blog to the search engines, you might also want to submit it to DMOZ (Open Directory Project).
Enjoy!

Thanks for this. I was looking for this information. I searched for my site and its listed in all the three search engines :). I have a question though. If i write a new post how do I inform these search engines about it. Should I submit the url of new post so that it gets indexed quickly, or should I again submit the sitemap to these search engines ? Does submitting your site again and again have a negative effect ?
@Anshul
Inform them by doing a ping.
Try http://pingmyblog.com/
You are amazing! Thanks so much for this!
@Darlene Servolini
My pleasure :)
thx... i already index at yahoo.. pass 72 hour already.. still nothing >.,
@ohmanusia
Have you pinged them? Try http://pingmyblog.com/
...and I believe even if you've had pinged them, it would take longer than 72 hours.
Thank you for the informations. http://wowoverme.blogspot.com
An alternative would be to automate ping such as at http://www.pingblogs.us/

Hi,
Thanks for sharing such grateful blog post. I really happy with reading your blog post. keep it up regular manner post.
What a brilliant post. You should do a series! :)I did a sort of blogging for dummies over
on one of the craft forums and I thought it was too simple for them, but the amount of
emails I got asking questions just like what you addressed was unbelievable. As young
people today we have grown up with computers, but it's easy to forget that even people
just a few years older have not! Really good post! :)

Really Nice information. Thanks a lot to share, It's really work and help for biggners also, Thanks again
Thanks, this makes me from showing in popular search engines..
Thanks for this info. I put up a blog to help people enroll in an event and found that people were trying to reach the blog by typing the address into search engines. Apparently they don't know how to enter an address into their browser. One didn't even know what a browser was. Turned out that google already had it, but the others did not. So I kind of remembered that you had to list your site with the major search engines. This article got me going very fast. Thank you so much for the help.
you can either side with a lot of hand work and patience put into the top 20 on Google. However, one must always be on the ball, otherwise it goes downhill fast.
Nice information friend. I am going to implement all the above methods to increase the traffic for my blog Hope will get some visitors :)
As time went on, these three search engines automatically crawled my site, however yahoo and bing accepted few posts to their index. Any ways to improve the situation?
@Joe
Have you tried submitting your sitemap to Bing (via Bing Webmaster tools)?
http://www.bing.com/toolbox/webmaster
but don't expect too much though, they are notoriusly slow at indexing.

Thank you, very useful article. Google should send a map of how to visually Have an article about it.
how to make XML sitemap in blogger ? because I don't know how to upload the xml sitemap to blog
@haramain software
You don't have to create it, it's already there. For Blogger blog, the post feed acts as a sitemap. The sitemap URLa are:
http://yourdomain/atom.xml
and
http://yourdomain/feeds/posts/default
You can choose either one.
